Sing songs, read rhyming books, and say silly tongue twisters. These help children become sensitive to the sounds in words.

Tips for Teachers

Make wooden spoon puppets, Cut out eyes, ears, noses, and mouths. Glue the facial features on the wooden spoons. Use materials to put clothing or any other items you wish. Act out a skit or story with the puppets.

The PEAK initiative is funded through Pennsylvania-Pre-K Counts, United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania, Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation, Montgomery County Foundation and focuses on building partnerships with the early learning programs in the Pottstown community.
